Emma Stone, known for her roles in "La La Land" and "Poor Things," has expressed her preference for being addressed by her real name moving forward.

Emma Stone has expressed her desire to be addressed by her real name, Emily.

"I would like to be Emily," the actress confessed during a joint interview with her co-star Nathan Fielder for The Hollywood Reporter. This revelation shed light on a long-held desire for Emma Stone, the 35-year-old Academy Award winner, to reclaim her birth name.

Stone's decision to adopt the name "Emma" for her acting career was driven by practical necessity rather than personal choice. Upon joining the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), she discovered that another actress was already using the name "Emily Stone." Faced with this challenge, Stone opted for the stage name "Emma," which has since become synonymous with her successful career in Hollywood.

However, over time, Emma Stone's desire to reconnect with her original name grew stronger. "It's just because my name was taken," she explained, revealing that her colleagues in the industry, with whom she has formed close bonds, often address her as "Emily." This shift reflects her personal journey to reclaim her birth name within the entertainment world.

"While her close collaborator Nathan affectionately uses the nickname 'Em' for convenience, Stone assures fans that there's no need to switch gears if they've always known her as Emma. She wouldn't dream of correcting an admirer who offers a heartfelt 'Congratulations, Emma!' after her recent Oscar win for 'Poor Things.'"

Social media buzzed with positive reactions to Stone's openness about her name. One Twitter user applauded, 'Good for Emily Stone to embrace her real name! It's a shame the industry sometimes pressures actors to adopt stage names.' Another enthusiastic fan declared, 'You're Emily from now on!'

Interestingly, Stone's childhood fascination with Emma Bunton, the Spice Girls' "Baby Spice," initially sparked her desire for the name. "I was a total blonde back then, and although my birth name is Emily, I desperately wanted to be called Emma just like her," Stone confessed during a 2018 appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.' "It wasn't solely because of her, but yeah, in second grade, did I walk up to my teacher on the first day and request to be called Emma? Absolutely!" the two-time Oscar winner admitted with a laugh.
